Welcome from Mark Axcell, Chief Executive and Jeremy Vanes, Chair

Dear Candidate

Thank you for your interest in our new organisation and these unique opportunities to join us at the start of our exciting journey. As key leaders in this new executive team you will be responsible for setting the vision, values and culture for an organisation that will provide mental health and specialist learning disability services across the whole of the Black Country's health and social care system. We will also be providing community healthcare services for children, young people and families in Dudley.

Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is an exciting new organisation formed on the 1 April this year. This follows the merger of Black Country Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. Together we have an income of almost £170 million, with over 3,000 staff operating out of 65 sites across four boroughs.

We were both delighted to be appointed as first leaders of the new organisation and we are excited by the opportunity and the responsibility that we now have to build on the outstanding joint work our clinicians have been leading to deliver innovative developments which improve services for people across the Black Country.

On formation, we have immediately faced the Covid-19 pandemic and our dedicated teams have worked tirelessly to support our service users and one another through this challenging time. The demands of the crisis have required us to deliver significant transformation in our services and relationships. Going forward we share a passion and commitment to building on our learning, reimagining the future, and together developing an outstanding organisation from a strong and resilient platform.

We hope that you will be interested in finding out more about the opportunity to join us and become our organisation's first ever Chief Finance Officer or Chief Nursing Officer. These are exceptional, once in a career opportunities to work with a newly formed Board, playing a fundamental role in driving forward our vision, values and culture. We are committed to creating an empowering environment that allows our staff to provide compassionate, high quality care to our populations. This are key leadership positions, bringing together the workforce of two high performing NHS Trusts.

For our Chief Finance Officer we are seeking an inspirational, open and visible leader; a champion for service users and carers. As an experienced Finance leader working corporately at, or close to Board level, you will bring credibility and impact to this broad role including critical areas of opportunity in the digital and estates agendas. Comfortable in building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders within the new organisation, our health system and our communities, your passion for quality, safety and efficiency will match that of our dedicated and innovative workforce.

For our Chief Nursing Officer we are open to hearing from aspirant and experienced Directors and we believe this role offers a career defining opportunity within our organisation and within a dynamic health and social care system.  We are seeking an inspirational, creative and visible leader who will be a real champion for service users and carers.  This is your chance to make your mark in the creation of a new organisation and we welcome applications from leaders who share our passion for person-centred care and thrive in a progressive environment.

These roles offer the chance to make your mark in the creation of a new organisation and we welcome applications from leaders with the initiative to seize this opportunity.

We do encourage you to contact our advising consultants at GatenbySanderson, Joanna Riley on or Emma Pickup on 0113 205 6296 for a confidential discussion.
We look forward to meeting you during the process.
